I love when a book can take you by surprise and lead you on a journey....this said journey had me guffawing loudly and a lot! Probably with a couple of snorts too!

Lori has come home from a “research” trip to Crete. Excited to be home to see her parents and get back to blogging, drawing and normality. What happens when she gets back to her home is completely the opposite. Her parents sold their house and moved all her stuff into her brothers flat and got her a job interview at the local university as a cleaner. I must say, I get the reasons her parents went, but to just abandon their daughter like that was a bit harsh, to say the least!

The escapades that ensue are so fricking hilarious, a naked man jumping through the window, the OCD of the Head of the flat association, her driving instructor, being drunk making bread, 3,000 condoms, and a donkey are just some of, rather a small amount, the funniest things that happen in this book. One thing I will add is...Ashbert! Ashbert is every girl's dream... I will not tell you how Ashbert comes into the story, but it is hilarious!

It took me two sittings to read this book, I didn’t want to leave Lori, literally everything she did ends in a disaster, bless her she did try! But everything got worse. She was naive and completely a deer in headlights but she was so endearing and I would love to be her friend because you know it would never be a dull moment with her!!

This book really did make me laugh! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this up but from the moment I met Lori, it was never dull. I want to sit and talk about this book all day and it would never get boring. There is so much entertainment in the pages, whilst Lori discovers how to do adulting and live the path she is meant to, although she doesn’t know what that path is just yet and no amount of Mcfly will help her! The authors have done such a fantastic job in keeping the humour going throughout the book, keeping you entertained and caring about Lori.

If you are looking for a book to make you giggle, cheer you up and teach you a couple of things then this is definitely the book for you! If you don’t, well you need to read it for Ashbert at least...it’s all written in the stars my little snowflake

What would you do if you came back off holiday, to find that your parents have sold their house and moved away without telling you. This such predicament happened to Lori Belkin. Still living at home at the age of 25, she had a degree, no job and spent all her time making cartoon strips for her blog. Moving into her brother’s she has to learn to survive, get a job and all she has is a strange pendant.
I loved Lori from the moment I started this book, she was like a breath of fresh air, so different from the majority of characters I read about. She had a heart of gold but everything she turned her hand to she messed up. She lived her life and was not ashamed of what she was. Having a friend like Cookie didn’t help either.
The relaxed style of the authors makes this story easy to get into. There is always something going on when Lori is around which in turn makes it a quick read. If normal life had not got in the way I would have finished it a lot quicker as I did not want to put it down. At lot of Lori’s actions had a domino effect and one small action turned into major events.
The magical theme runs through the book, but whilst it plays a big part in the story, it is downplayed as the story is about Lori and the changes she has and will make in her life. There are quite a lot of laugh out loud moments and one of my favourite scenes was when Lori booked a driving lesson just to take a ruined rug down the tip.
Set in Birmingham, I enjoyed reading about places I was familiar with and on Lori’s travels I could picture exactly where she was travelling.
I rarely mentioned covers when I write reviews, however when I saw this cover, I was wondering what the cover had to the story, but as you read it, it does become clearer and I had to giggle when these creatures were revealed. Although I would like to know what happened to them at the end.
This book should have at least two warnings whilst reading it. 1. Do not read in public as you will get strange looks when you are trying not to laugh. 2. Do not read whilst drinking a coffee as your kindle is likely to get wet. Overall this book is a brilliant example of a comedy book. Having read other books by these authors, I know that they can write a story, however this book is one of the best I have read. I for one would love to read more of Lori’s adventures and maybe other strange artefacts can find their way to her.

What a delightful book this was. Had me laughing all the way through. The concept was something simple, but was elaborated into a beautiful story.

This book made me feel a whole range of emotions along with Lori & a lot of them felt Like I was experiencing them myself.

I loved seeing Lori’s confidence grow throughout the book.

The friendship between her and Theo was my favourite.

Such an enjoyable story that I have already recommended to a friend!

Prepare for Typhoon Lori! Lori is a millennial who doesn't have adulting quite figured out yet. And her parents just broke up with her. Reading Lori's adventures was laugh out loud and cringe worthy, in the best way. Although there's a dash of magic in the novel, I'm pretty sure Lori would have made just as big of a disaster of everything, without any magical shenanigans. The book was well paced and well written. The characters were believable and enjoyable. The dialogue was engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
