Another excellent installment in the series. Flamefall is that rare success of a second book in a trilogy, expanding on the world and character building of the first book while simultaneously setting up the third book and holding its own plotline. A prefect mix that had me speeding easily through this book.

In the first book we saw our young riders struggling to find their way among adults and the politicking of a young government. In this our riders realize their own power and strengths, although they still have their own flaws to work through. I was begging for these kids to figure it out, even as their painful story built their development.

This series is setting itself up to be amongst my favorite dragon books, I only wish the dragons had more of their own voices!

This eARC was gifted to me by Penguin Teen in exchange for an honest review! This is the sequel to Fireborne, and it was honestly a letdown because I loved the first book so much. The beginning of Flamefall seemed like a repeat of the first in terms of relationship dynamics and certain scenarios. It wasn't until the halfway point that the different plot threads came together and I was hooked in the way I've come to expect from Munda. There was also so much conflict in this book that could have been solved by communication (like, literally a single conversation) and I just didn't find that to be compelling.

Some characters were still great and some characters still sucked, and that's all I'm going say about that. The action scenes were still amazing, as was the political climate (although I found some part of this repetitive as well). I'm still looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy but this one definitely suffered from second book syndrome!
