The first half of this was a pain to read. It might be "modern" sexist cliches, but still... sexist cliches.
The characterization on the wedding special had me facepalm too often. I'm not necessarily a great judge because I haven't read many stories from that time, but I'm guessing it's more of a "wedding special" problem, to make it "funny" and "lighthearted". I really can't get behind this interpretation of Canary and her reaction about the wedding.
If anything I would picture Oliver asking for abstinence for the ceremony, for starters
. And the borderline bridezilla aspect with her being obsessed about the ring during the fight? [eyeroll]
And that's right before we're served some bloody trauma on Canary's part, so the whiplash doesn't help to feel immersed and moved, it's just shock. For shock value, I would say, because that timing for the assault is... something.
After this, it gets slightly better,
although the amazons' reasons for their involvement didn't impress me at all. The arrival to Themyscira almost made me quit because I have to say: I'm pretty sure lesbophobic comments aren't something to show as a cool way to respond to serophobia... More genrally, I'm not a fan of this vision of Themyscira, it lacks imagination for what warrior means in such a different environment. I'll admit that part of it seems to be related to something we find out when the Arrow family leaves Themyscira, but it still rubbed me the wrong way.

Now we're halfway through this and, despite the (other) dramatic event that occur at that point, I did like the rest of the book. There were still several kinds of irritating things for me, but it did the job of entertaining me with characters I like.

All in all, not something I would recommend nowadays unless you really want to see more of Dinah/Ollie and are ready to deal with the bullshit.

It’s a fun superhero story oddly about how much Green Arrow and Black Canary are willing to go through to rescue Connor Hawke, Green Arrow’s son. It’s a globetrotting mystery and rescue mission
