Stylistically not that unique, but a neat and twisty little mystery. A triple bluff! In 1928!

The mystery and themes (dual personas, sadomasochism, preoccupation with the darker side of human nature, doubt, etc ) were really interesting and there’s a lot I’m going to ponder on for a good while. I do think it was a lot of content both plot-wise and thematically to pack into ~100 pages. I’ve heard The Black Lizard is a good accompaniment to this one so I’ll plan to try that out next.
