I borrowed this book by recommendation from a friend who works at the Blue Oyster gallery. This was a wonderful book that took me places I did not expect! I appreciated the diversity of authors and loved the approaches to learning (-grounded in relationships and learning in beloved company) this book presented. I was hooked first by the grounded compass-shift of Mokonui-a-rangi Smith in Marking a Return. From there across to the romantic shorthand., or tracing of histories and place. One that I kept thinking about was the story in the more; In Our Mofussil Town, by Mohan Dutta on Familial Bonds and Protest Performance; as a portrait of the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA)-- for its inspiring and fiery painting of the anti-colonial struggle of cultural dissent against the British Crown.
