First read it March 3, 2009.
The first in The Hollows urban fantasy series, a.k.a., the Rachel Morgan series, set in contemporary Cincinnati.

It amazes me how many different versions of vampires with which people come up. Kim Harrison has created a benevolently (sort of) different world of fantastical creatures.

Read it again...10-24-2010
I'd forgotten how much fun Harrison is. Never a boring millisecond with Rachel Morgan. The world Harrison has created since the Turn is fascinating and I'm always left craving pizza and tomatoes...hmmm She has the most amazing imagination with the twists and turns of her plot. The tricky relationships developing... The various potentials for romance and action... Harrison has developed some fascinating characters and I am sooo looking forward to the next in the series.

This book did get better towards the end. That's not saying much

This was a fun paranormal romp! I really liked the way things worked for the world. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. A solid urban fantasy and not just a mislabeled PNR. I really liked it! I wish I would have given it a chance sooner.

So boring I could barely get through the first pages.

Glad I am going through this series again through audiobooks. The narrator was great and the story was just as good as I remember it when I read it the first time like ten years ago.
