An absolutely wonderful book with a collection of enrapturing stories featuring a variety of familiar characters and villains. Will absolutely read again.

Hmm. Competent. Adequate. Occasionally amusing.
Are those words that describe the other books in your reading list?

As I write that, I realize that I've read a fair number of books recently that may have started out more promisingly but ultimately disappointed.

This was worth reading, maybe not any better than that, but yeah.

If you haven't read it yet, be warned that it's more fairy tale than Doctor Who, and even the stories that have a Doctor in them have him at arm's length, just gently nudging the plot.

A solid selection of reworkings of fairytales, some of which are more interesting than others, but all of which have now faded from my mind.

Somehow I was expecting something else from this, I am not sure what but something. I think it felt like the Doctor Who stuff was just thrown in randomly. For example beauty and the beast but instead of a curse it is a unstable time field etc. I will say the better fairytales were the original ones that did not cling too heavily to traditional fairytales.

Anything Doctor Who is good, but unfortunately I was not impressed with these stories. They were told in classic fairytale style, meaning no depth in character or story.

The Emperor Dalek Has No Clothes-ended on kind of a downer - all but two rebels died and the Emperor didn't die
Snow White and the Seven Keys to Doomsday has a much more satisfying ending
Little Rose Riding Hood was very cute
Cinderella and the Magic Box - The Doctor as Fairy Godmother = amazing, plus vampires!
The Gingerbread Trap - cute retelling of Hansel and Gretel
Helana and the Beast - fun twist on B&tB with the Doctor as a fake librarian
Andiba and the Four Slitheen - not sure which fairy tale it's parodying, but it was cute nonetheless
Sirgwain and the Green Knight - makes me wish I remembered reading the original
The garden of statues - cute, but a little sad
Frozen Beauty - very cute adventure-y take on sleeping beauty
The Three Little Sontarans - kind of meh
Three Brothers Gruff - very enjoyable
The Grief Collector - I would watch a DW episode about this
The Scruffy Piper - decent, but not as cute as some of the other stories
The Twins in the Wood - could be expanded into a full DW episode for sure
Jak and the Wormhole - not the way I was expecting the story to go, based on the source, but cute anyway.

Overall, an enjoyable combo of DW and fairy tales.
