They lived on Market Street, San Francisco for a year. Moved to Natoma St. for 2 years and then on to Oakland and 3rd street, moved to Dovenport, Alameda then San mateo. From there to Livermore. Jack was 8 years old and moved back to Oakland by the age of 10.

Apocryphal Anecdotes
Among the many jobs he held: ice wagon driver, worked at a bowling alley, scrubbed boats’ decks, and in a cannery. He left school in 8th grade at the age of 13 years old. He became an oyster pirate at the age of 16, worked as bay patrol, seaman hunting seals, coal worker for the electric company as well. He became a hobo and a tramp and rode the rails for over a year. Was called RoadKid. He rode the “blinds”, nail the blinds, to deck her is to ride on top of the roof of the rail road car.
