{My thoughts} – Araminta Spookie Lives in her very own haunted house with her Aunt Tabby and her Uncle Drac. She is an unusual girl that appears to have a different room in the house for a bedroom each day of the week. Since she is the only child that lives there she finds different ways to occupy her time. A lot of the things she likes to do, though end up getting her in trouble with her Aunt Tabby.

One morning her Aunt Tabby is in a mood and decides that she is fed up with the house they live in and want to sell it and move into an apartment. Every time her Aunt Tabby has someone come to look at the house Araminta {Minty} does what she can to make them leave or scare them off or sway them into not being interested in the house.

Eventually a family called The Wizzard’s come to look at the house. Minty has a plan to scare them off, but they just end up falling in love with the house more and more. Eventually, the table’s turn in Minty’s favor.

If you’d like to know what happens you need to read the book. I think that this is a wonderful book that could make a great addition to a bedtime ritual. It also sort of gives me the feel of Hotel Transylvania {The Movie Series} because of the way the characters are written and the way in which the story is unwound. I look forward to reading more books in this series in the very near future.

I see what she was going for... the start of another classic series like Goosebumps or Magic Tree House.

This could have been cute, but just missed the mark. It followed a rather bratty main character and didn't have the comraderie that a kids book should have. This would have benefitted from a prominent secondary character.

Aku selalu ngiler buat baca seri Septimus Heap-nya Angie Sage, tapi tak pernah langsung menyentuh-membacanya. Tebel banget bukunya, hehehehe....

Fiuhhh...ilustrasinya juara, deh! B.A.G.U.S. bangeth! Sumpah!

This was a cute and fun start to a series. I've been really into middle grade spooky (or "spooky", I guess) books lately and was immediately drawn to the cover of this book. Araminta is a sassy and independent female lead and I really enjoyed her adventures. There were lovely illustrations throughout, which I always enjoy, especially in spooky books. I thought the end was a little rushed and fell a little flat for me but I could definitely see potential in this series being a lot of fun. I can't wait to read some more!

I picked this up off one of the carts in the backroom (of the library) and said "Angie Sage wrote books for little kids, too!!!!" (Seriously, you could hear the exclamation points in my voice.) I LOVE the Septimus Heap books, and the great thing about these Araminta Spookie books is that they are exactly the right size for my daughter right now. So I took it home and we both read it and enjoyed it. The ghosts in this series are very similar to the ghosts in Septimus Heap, all formal and true to the time period they lived in. Araminta Spookie, the narrator, is cute and funny, which is not like Septimus Heap, but both sets of books are clever and full of dark things. I highly recommend it to any second or third grade girl. Or fourth, if she is a slow reader.
