Not much to say about this one tbh. But I mean that in a good way. It was a fun cozy read with some light time travel, an epic love story, and older YA  characters that actually are mature.
While this is first and foremost a romance novel, I do very much appreciate that the author did not make this a love conquers/fixes all type book. Love may set things in motion, but it is very much the characters who want better for themselves and thus are taking charge of their own lives that is put forward here.

I love Pride and Prejudice, I love Pittsburgh, and I love sapphic stories, so this book seemed written for me. With that in mind, it wasn’t quite what I expected (it’s not a P&P retelling!) but I still enjoyed the story and the characters

this was a super fun read. really excellent levels of pining.

the story felt like it didn’t suit a cusp of adulthood context, though that might just be personal preference. in 1812, freedom and love are central, but in 2023, love is far more tempered and the conflict arises from self confidence and identity. i wish the past featured more of the same search for purpose, and that the book was unabashed about being a romcom. the only thing worse than reading about teenagers who alter their lives for love, is reading about teenagers who alter their lives for love with asides suggesting self-awareness of their naivety! anyway, the themes could have overlapped in a more profound and impactful way.

if you are brave enough to endure suffering, you are brave enough to attempt happiness!!! very happily dreaming of a movie adaptation starring ATJ a lá Emma as Lucy. kthnx.

PS: major content warning for misinformation on corsetry. i know the girls are sick.

An okay book.
It's a fan fiction of classic literature and not its just Pride and Prejudice. It has plot twists that just shook me.
It's good for what it is, a sapphic romance novel for teenagers and I enjoyed it.
