I really wanted to love this book but I was slightly disappointed with it. I found the constant mood changes in the book made it quite hard to read. One minute it's jokey and lightheaded and the next very depressing.

Surprisingly I didn't warm to Claire's character much, I think it's because there wasn't much to her other than her love for Gibsie. I thought Gibsie was written really well, he's such a complex character and it really came across. I was also disappointed with Lizzie's character, I really wanted to like and understand her but the constant bickering (and bullying) was just too much.
I think my favorite parts of the book were any time the Lynch siblings, Aiofe and Johnny were mentioned.

I wish the book had less filler chapters and got to the actual gritty part a lot sooner. It felt like reading a lot of silly chatter and Claire and Gibsie go round in circles on whether they should be together or not. Then around 100 pages to the end of the book a major incident is revealed. I think with certain topics there should be time to make sure it's covered properly and I don't think it was given that. It really threw me because I wasn't expecting it and then within a couple short chapters it had already been wrapped up and swept under the rug.

So far this has been my least favourite in the series. The first half of the book was so slow I almost gave up. It starts to pick up half way through and then the last quarter is an absolute whirlwind. It ended well but was more graphic than I was expecting especially compared to previous books in the series. An overall solid read.

⭐️⭐️.5 (just my opinion and if you loved it then I love that for you!)

This rating hurts my heart. I was very much looking forward to reading both Gibsie and Claire’s story. Getting to read about the old gang being back together in the way that only Chloe can do. However, I didn’t get that from this story. The emotion that you had no choice but to feel in Binding 13, Keeping 13, Saving 6 and Redeeming 6  felt like it was missing in Taming 7.

The first 70% of the book I honestly felt like nothing happened.

I was surprised to find Claire and Gibsie get together so young. We read 4 books in which Gibs made some very valid points about why he wanted to wait to get with Claire, because she was his endgame, I find it hard with Claire’s maturity in this story to believe they are ‘endgame’ which is not what I wanted for Gibs.

Yes Lizzie was awful, however, after finding out what she found out I would have liked some kind of opportunity for her to make amends. I didn’t like how it played out for Lizzie or for Gibsie.

I especially did not like the forgiveness that Gibsie was so willing to give to Claire after what she did. That was absolutely not okay, and for someone with trauma like his that could have some long term effects on him.

I loved how Johnny stood by Gibsie.

Honestly, I liked getting to see the characters again, but it just wasn’t my favourite.

I'm going to say something unpopular, I don't think this is as good as the OG two books. I think the author was better at writing from Johnny and Shannon's POVs. It did drag a lot for the shortest book in the series.

!!MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!

the fist four books in this series were all 5 star and mean the actual fucking world too me (joeyaiofe and johnnyshannon are elite) now i had such high high hopes for this and ill be honest i was let down. the drama in this book all to do with lizzie mostly takes up the nearly the entirety of this book to the fact that’s there is no plot it’s just drama. i tried my hardest to be a lizzie defender before but chloe has ruined her character so badly in this book to the point where she is so fucking mean and i can’t apologise for her at this point in time. she needs a seriously good redemption arc and a lot of therapy in her book and im hoping chloe can pull through and redeem her character cause she did have so much potential! i don’t hate lizzie but she needs some serious fucking help because she was vile in some of the scenes in this book. her emotional anger is justified in the fact that she lost her sister to suicide but she did not need to take that out on gibsie and everyone around her😭lizzies and gibsies constant bickering was so repetitive and gibsie deserves the biggest apology from her. and the fact at the end of thr book the whole friendship group is apart and lizzie and claire hate each other like what-💀chloe what were you thinking woman? why are none of your characters happy ffs

however i wasn’t all let down and seeing claire and gibsie togther is so fucking cute i love my sunshine cat parents🫶😫and their angry love confession in the rain has me grinning so hard🤭 they are the true best friends to lovers and their little nicknames for each other so adorable. and both their mums are the biggest claire and gibsie shippers fr🤞i love how only claire sees gibsie and i mean actually see him his vulnerable side and how she’s always there for him and he’s always there for her
“Gibsie belonged to the rest of the world. Gerard belonged just to me.” AW🫠💛

and seeing all the lynch kids be happy and live the life they deserve made me sob i love them so much.
seeing aoife joey and aj happy actually healed my heart❤️‍🩹they will always be my favourites.
actually cried at the first appearance joey made cause it made me emotional after the trauma that was his books before this
i loved seeing more of the other characters too especially patrick i feel like this book gave us so much more insight into his character! he’s so unproblematic i love him lmao

gibsie didn’t deserve anymore trauma written into his character than what he already had, i thought this book would be more about his childhood trauma with his sister and dad drowning, not that fact that it was gibsie being raped by his stepbrother??? after years of rumors and everyone believing it was lizzies sister who was raped by mark and it turns out it was gibsie who was raped😭my poor little sunshine boy has had it with the trauma i need him to be happy now pls, and the reason why he has a fear of blood 😭😭😭 he deserves the fattest apology from lizzie cause she was an utter bitch to him in this book. not just an apology to him but to claire too cause she was horrible to her too! this books plot was just messed up and i don’t think chloe knew what one earth to do with this characters which really fustrated me😢
