Hugely derivative of Blade Runner (the movie,) and even a touch of Martin Cruz Smith - his Arkady Renko novel that partially takes place in Chernobyl. I have a feeling there are any number of other robot, replicant, android stories mixed in. Anyway, all the tropes, lots of violence, a little replicant philosophy, and added sex made for an entertaining read. The best thing about it is the characters - very likable.

My wife read it in the original Spanish, I read it in English, and that was fun, but it's beyond me how she possibly understood the first line of chapter 20, here rendered in English: The surface of the recently liquified dermosilicone was iridescently oily.

Fun.

The Characters are not my favorite. Bruna and her overly sexualized ideas and desires make me cringe. But the world, the technohumans, aliens, and society overall - awesome.
I will continue the series, hope the weird sexual ideas Bruna has and her inability to communicate to her lover( or whatever he is)  are not as present in the next one.
The romance is very weak, not to say I hated it.

Soooo...I won this as a Goodreads
Giveaway. I really liked the blurb but apparently did not pay attention to the big #2 next to the series name! Fortunately, since I do have KU I have access to the first book in the series so as soon as I'm finished with that one I'll be jumping into this one :)

Just a sci-fi fantasy, but I like the story and the characters.
