Blecher is brilliant - from describing the incredibly minute details of life to exploring what happens in the mind of a person who is stuck in a moment. There were beautiful snippets that left me in awe, and parts that I needed to re-read to fully understand. The narrator seems doomed, a nameless person who lived an insignificant existence, with only the gift to experience life in a bizarrely marvelous way.
A fun experience to read, and I imagine I would get much more out of a second read. I won't recommend this to anyone, it must be found and discovered on their own accord. No one would like to be told about this book, much less asked to read it.

Max Blecher is called the ‘Romanian Kafka’ and I really wanted to try his work knowing he was friends with a lot of people from the surrealist movement such as Andre Breton. I feel like the landscape of Romania really lends itself well to surrealism and this novel was really overtly poignant and existential.
It follows a man who is musing on his life and adolescence for 116 pages and discussing his relationship with the world around him. It’s very similar to Nausea in how he likens his body to objects and describes feeling as though there is no difference between his existence and the world around him, as though they are tethered together and existence is something he has to bear every day. I liked the use of angst here but wasn’t really a fan of his relationships or sexual musings as I just found them really odd.
I always love discovering new existential authors and I’m glad I have read Blecher. He wrote his at 25 and had a really short life being diagnosed with bone tuberculosis as just a teenager and a lot of his novels muse deeply on death and the meaning of life and his dread around what it means to exist. I would definitely read this novel for those themes.

Nu m-a impresionat. Nu că ar fi trebuit să mă impreioneze, I beg your pardon.
Adică, în comparație cu un Camil Petrescu sau un Călinescu, Blecher pare realmente contemporan cu noi și nu cu triada interbelicilor.
Însă, nu am vârsta potrivită pentru nivelul de răbdare cultivată de care ai nevoie să devii impresionant cu fiecare remarcă mai criptică sau descriere ce dă de-a dreptul într-un fel de poetică, ce mi se pare izbitor de asemănătoare cu cea a lui T. Arghezi.
,,Era în vorbele acestea mai întâi plăcerea puțin grețoasă de a mă scufunda în mediocritatea dialogului și în același timp o vagă impresie de libertate.” (p.92)

Não posso afirmar que compreendi linha por linha desta obra,pois é claramente subjetiva,fragmentada ,surrealista, uma confusão mental em que o narrador "desconhecido" se mostra em um estado de estresse e alta sensibilidade ao mundo exterior. E não se pode evitar fazer analogias a vida e doença do escritor que tem uma forte influência nesta obra, é isto que me fez quase chegar a compreender a superficie da essência da obra. Pois quem já esteve em estado de severa convalescença e isolamento social consegue se identificar com estas irrealidade de cisão do mundo e de si mesmo,que beira ao desespero, de inutilidade e enfim conformismo em ser um ponto no finito que realmente não faz diferença para o andamento da sociedade.
O início do século XX a literatura ofereceu vários modelos deste tipo de narrativa desde o introspectivo Niels Lyhne de Jens , Doctor Glas,Jakob Van Gunten, Rilke ,que refletem os acontecimentos da época e catástrofes vindouros, onde homem mergulha em si mesmo e na filosofia moderna. É una obra que me faz querer me aprofundar mais neste campo ainda pouco explorado por mim

Maalesef buradaki genel kanının aksine beğenmedim. Blecher'ın lirik, bol betimlemeli, bazen neyden bahsettiğini bile takip edemediğim dili çok yordu beni. Aslında sevdiğim cümleler, hatta paragraflar oldu. Fakat kitap anlatıcının bazen anılarına bazense hezeyanlarına benzeyen bir anlatılar topluluğundan oluşuyor gibi geldi bana ve bence bu topluluk anlamlı, akılda kalıcı bir bütün oluşturmuyor. Kitap tam olarak ne anlatıyor mesela anlamadım. Bilinç akışı gibi bir durum da söz konusu değil anlatımda. Neden ve nereden geldiğini ya da nereye kaybolduğunu bilemediğimiz karakterler arasında salınıp duran, yer yer ergenleşen ancak kimi zaman da çok büyük sözler eden bir anlatıcının yanında ona eşlik etmeye çalışıyoruz. Ben bir noktada kayboldum galiba. Kitabın genel havası gerçekten Kafka kitaplarını andırıyor ama onlarda bir olay kurgusu vardı, Acil Gerçekdışılıkta Maceralar'da ise o atmosfer alınıp içi birbirine eklemlenmeyen rüyalarla doldurulmuş sanki.
Çeviri konusunda pek bir şey diyemem, beni rahatsız etmedi. Ancak Suat Kemal Angı'nın kitabın başındaki önsözünde kitabın orijinal dilinden değil de İngilizceden çevrilmiş olmasını aklamaya çalışması gereksizdi bence. Hele Jaguar gibi genellikle kitapları orijinal dilinden Türkçeye kazandıran bir yayınevi böyle bir tercih yapıyorsa mutlaka zorunluluktan olmuştur, yine de buna bizzat çevirmenin zoraki açıklamalar getirmesi nedense hoşuma gitmedi.
Bir de burayı takip ettiklerini bildiğim Jaguar'a iki küçük notum olacak. Kitabın İngilizceden çevrilmesi sorun değil fakat bunu keşke çevirmenin önsözünden değil de kitabın kapağından ya da en azından künye kısmından öğrenseydim. Çeviren: ... ifadesi yeterli değil bence, böyle kitaplarda İngilizceden çeviren: .... diye yazılması okura daha çok saygı göstermek gibi geliyor bana. Gerçi künyede en azından çeviriye temel alınan baskı bilgisine yer verilmiş. Bir de 21. Dipnotu "Bknz. 11. Dipnot" olarak yazmışsınız. Bu kullanıma daha önce de denk geldim ve anlam veremiyorum. Kitabı okurken birden kendimi önceki sayfalarda bir dipnotu ararken buluyorum. Sayfa numarası yazılsa ya da dipnot içeriği tekrar etse ne güzel olurdu. Bunlar dışında editörlük her zamanki gibi temiz olmuş.
