This is the second book in the British Eisenmenger - Flemming Forensic Mysteries. The two protagonists are John Eisenmenger, a former forensic pathologist, and Helena Flemming, a lawyer. This could work as a standalone but there is a lot of history between the recurring characters and background from book one, so I would suggest starting with [b:A Feast of Carrion|2058708|A Feast of Carrion (Eisenmenger-Flemming Forensic Mysteries #1)|Keith McCarthy|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1255988174s/2058708.jpg|2063887].
In this second case, Eisenmenger and Helena start investigating some odd deaths of people apparently dying of cancer. Lots of tumours. Lots of cancer. Spreading very quickly. Eisenmenger and Helena discover that the victims used to work for a pharmaceutical company. Blackmail, corruption, murder, lots of forensics and science, a nice dose of humour and some romantic elements, this was a solid thriller/mystery that kept me absorbed for the majority of the time. The characters are complex and continue to develop. I look forward to picking up book three in the future.
The audio is narrated by Sean Barrett, which alone makes it worthwhile listening to this.
