I am not much of a poetry reader, but came across this book when looking for works by Monacan authors. I was actually working on some Vampire Diaries fan fiction, and went in search of tvd fanfic that included Indigenous representation. I found almost nothing except one on ao3 that was pretty painfully racist. Anyway, that led me down the path of looking specifically for Monacan authors to read. This little collection of poetry was really wonderful. I loved the way it was structured in thematic sections. Fave poems include Spider Dance, Jamestown Revisited, Fire and Water, and Making Apple Butter.
