I liked the movie a lot, but the book left me cold. I actually struggled to read it and could never get into it. It felt so remote and distant. Therese seemed more obsessed with the idea of Carol than in love with the real person, and Carol was often so awful or indifferent to Therese that it made me angry. It felt like an unhealthy relationship, and thus hard to root for.

i’m glad i finally read this. i really couldn’t stand the awkwardness between carol and therese in the first half of the book but the yearning, lovely moments & carol’s stakes made me feel so many things.

"It would be Carol, in a thousand cities, a thousand houses, in foreign lands where they would go together, in heaven and in hell..."

Very sweet book. I loved the hopefulness.

The timeline was a bit hard to follow at times, but has some of my favorite dialog I have ever read honestly. Maybe I'm a weirdo for that.

I can’t decide how I feel about this book. I’d like to hear carol’s POV. I LOVED the movie. Book version Therese was kinda irritating and book version Carol semi creepy
