A quick, easy and very interesting read. Thinking back I can't remember too much about the actual prose, but Benjamin does a great job getting emotions across and there were plot twists I did not see coming. I'd say she's a good storyteller, and does a good job quickly developing characters, which was needed for the structure of the book.

Does it become a self fulfilling prophecy if you know the day you're supposed to die?

This book punched me in the heart.

To me, that's very different from "this book made me cry."

I just wanted these four siblings to get out of their own way. I came to care about them so very much, and to care about how they were living and the choices they were making. It was easy to see the traps they fell into, but not easy to see how one caught up in the situation could prevent the inevitable.

Devastating and thought provoking. This book sat on my shelf for 2 years and I don’t know why I didn’t pick it up sooner! It just kept getting pushed back in that never-ending-tbr-pile. I went in mostly blind, (I’m very glad I didn’t read up on it) only knowing it was very buzzed about and also this simple gist of it- Four siblings go to a gypsy who reveals to them the day they’re doing to die. How they choose to live their life after receiving this information is entirely up to them. It was fascinating to see what they chose to do with their lives. I absolutely loved this story and relished every second of it. I’m sad it’s over.
