I think the nicest thing I can say about this book is “of its time”.
ACHINGLY twee at best, racist at worst, it is filled with poems called things like
“The sweet robin and the pretty little elf”
Or worse, “the merry little gypsy”.
Given that it’s for children there are no pictures either.
There are a FEW good poems in here, but it’s mainly padded out with nonsense about flowers and fairies.
