A pretty good book. The beginning is shaky, and in my opinion somewhat cringeworthy but without it and the setup of Rocky's life, you couldn't get to the end. The bullying and abuse are a bit hard to read for some, though.

I had to drag myself to get through the first 50 pages. The tone is more or less high school mob boss trying to be cool, which is hard to relate to especially considering that he's a violent bully. His life gets turned on its head when he realizes his dad, drug lord, is a bad person. Who knew? He also falls in love with the girl he bullied for years, who eventually forgives him. Wtf??

I've read some of the other reviews for this book. I agree with them on one thing. The first fourth of the book is rough, but the story starts to unfold.
At first it was slow and choppy, but soon I was captivated and had to know what happens next. So, I finished the rest of the book in one day.

Rocky is a tough cookie but he comes around to be a good character and a good guy. He cares for people, and his father is to blame for his behavior.

I can't read this. All of the sentences are short and choppy. It's as jarring as being in the car with someone who doesn't know how to ease onto their breaks at all the stop signs. I'm getting motion sickness. A sad DNF because I've never read anything set in Korea before.

I don't know how to feel about this book. On one hand, the writing was really good and the story of the main character and his relationship with his parents is very interesting. But on the other hand, the whole Ha-na thing felt very weird. This book featured some pretty gross stuff, which I didn't mind too much, but I don't believe it's realist how things ended up after what she had to go through.
