Not only was Calvin a serial liar, but Lillian was an insufferable, spoiled brat. And for someone who supposedly had no prejudice against Chinese people, she had the audacity to say, "Stop speaking in Chinese. It's rude," to the two mean having a conversation (one of whom is obviously Chinese). I can't.

I think this might be my favorite in the series. I loved the second chance romance part! This book was full action and romance! A must read!

Fun romp. Would have liked more Hugo and more interactions between him and Calbot.

This is my favorite of the Knickerbocker series! Lily and Cabot have some of the best chemistry I've read in a romance novel and their interactions and banter felt natural and real. There was a lot going on this book especially for a romance novel, there were multiple conflicts throughout which is a departure from most in this genre where one conflict is stretched out for 300 pages.

In my opinion, "Mogul" was the weakest in The Knickerbocker Club series. "Mogul" is the story of Calvin Cabot, the son of poor missionaries who grows up to own 3 newspapers (with aspirations for more), and Lillian Davies, a spoiled mining heiress who doesn't understand the words 'self preservation.' When they were younger, they were married after a whirlwind romance, but the marriage was annulled due to pressure on Cabot by her father, Warren Davies. Now, Lily's father is dead and her 19 year old brother, Tom, is set to take over the mining company, but he's disappeared, along with something that belongs to the leader of the local Chinatown mob.

The plot fell completely flat in this story. Everything seemed so forced and unbelievable. I found myself skimming a lot of the book because I just didn't care about what happened to either character. I think Lily was meant to be a strong and self reliant individual, but all she did was bully and whine until she got her way. Cabot claimed he wanted nothing to do with her, but he acted like an ass around her because he actually loved her.

All in all, 3 stars. Its not as good as the other books in the series. Also, Lily is described as blonde hair and whiskey eyed, but that model has black hair and blue eyes. I wish the publishers would pay more attention to that.

1 star because the whole "Chinese gangster" was super problematic/seemed racist. like what? also, not historically accurate. but more importantly, this just essentially took the parts that i really did NOT enjoy in book 2 (aka the fortune teller thing with the whole pseudo Romani microaggressions, but this book just exacerbated and made what i didn't like about the one before more overt) ugh. why?

I finished reading Mogul. Amazing loved it. It's my favorite it the series. I really love the investigated plot and the hero and heroines former history. I really enjoyed it. I'm sad to hear that this is the last one in the series. I had a feeling that maybe you would write a book about Cora. I had a huge impression that she had a major crush on John Drexel character? Is it just me?

I've been awaiting for this book. The plot was very intriguing. I honestly feel in love with all the characters, especially Emmett and Calvin.
This is my first time reading the the Gilded Age. I find that I enjoying reading from
this period. This period feels very modern.
I can wait for your new series. It's too bad it's isn't going to be publish until the latter part of 2017. I guess I do read pretty fast.
