Last year I had to do a project on UK politics. I ended up finding the ‘easy version’ of the Labour Party’s manifesto. Well, this book evokes the same feeling as an easy-to-read manifesto; and, sadly, I don’t say this as a compliment. The author seems to have trouble (or unwillingness) writing depth, nuance or antagonists that aren’t plainly cartoonish.
Still, having read The Henna Wars, I was prepared for this and wasn’t too underwhelmed by the juvenile, kiddie-pool-deep, and fairly untalented writing. With that in mind, Ishu and Hani were cute together, and I liked the relationship between Ishu and Nik!

i wouldn't consider myself a fan of contemporaries. most that i've seen being promoted are usually cringy and have way too many harry potter/general pop culture references for one to handle. however, this one AHH okay i really enjoyed this book. i'm a sucker for well-executed tropes, and i'd say this book made fake dating work with all of the emotions, etc. the characters also expanded beyond just the basic tropes and actually had substance/nuance unlike a lot of stuff i've seen nowadays. anyway read this please thanks

Super cute once we got into the fake dating bit. I loved a lot of the stereotype dismantling that was done! Very bisexual 🩷💜💙!
