obviously not written for my age, but was a nostalgic read as i loved jacqueline Wilson growing up, however some of the depictions of food in this book may be harmful for younger kids to read (eg references to bulimia, talk of diets). however it’s a great book to normalise lesbian relationships and feelings and may help young girls figure themselves out.
Moderate: Eating disorder and Chronic illness

I really enjoyed reading this book. I grew up with Jacqueline Wilson’s books and always loved her characters, as someone who is part of the LGBT+ community I feel like a book like this may have helped me understand my sexuality more. I do feel like the cover is very clearly gay so it would be nice to see other cover options available so closeted young people wouldn’t shy away from this book for fear of outing themselves.
Overall this was a really great story about a teenage girl coming to terms with her sexuality while also having the stress of divorced parents and a mum with a chronic illness. It was a really great story that kept me hooked throughout and I didn’t want to put it down. I feel like the ending fell a bit short but it wasn’t terrible.

Adorable! I'm 28 and picked this up thinking I'd give it a go despite being way past Jacqueline's usual target audience's age but I really enjoyed it.
