"we all preferred the world we found, to the one we'd left behind."

I read quite a few picture books with my children but rarely - if ever - do I add those to Goodreads or take the time to review them.

The Great Realisation is a worthy exception of this.

This powerful poem takes the reader on a journey through a world that is too fast, too much and how through COVID19 lockdowns, there were positives to be found and more importantly, how something scary could become the catalyst for change.

Due to the topic of the poem, I was slightly worried that it may be anxiety-inducing for my kids however the actual pandemic plays an underlying part. The focus is on bringing people back together and making the world feel bright again.

Aside from the poetry itself, the illustrations are beautiful and uplifting.

A must-read for both adults and children.
