I enjoyed this book I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it it was a fun little read i don’t think I’ve ever read a book like this it was different then my regular reads some tropes in this book are Forbidden Love, enemies to lovers and age gap This book has no cliffhangers it’s a happy ending its spicy theres kind’ve cheating but not with the male main character and female main characters relationship if you read the blurb i think you’ll kind’ve get who the cheating happens to overall i ratef this book a 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and I’m not entirely sure how to feel about the main lead’s relationship bc of the age difference and how it started but I’m glad they had a happy ending. Even though I’m indifferent to the book, it is one that I would recommend to people who are into taboo/forbidden themes.

I expected to enjoy this book on the basis of the premise alone. I mean step father having a clandestine affair with step daughter? While married to her mom? A sure fire hit for my forbidden fancies. Alas, twasn’t to be. I can handle the non con (kinda hot), I can handle the cheating (loved it), but I can’t handle entitlement and sheer stupidity and one other thing. Call me hypocritical but I’m not. I just think this is my line.

Before I rant, I liked that we start directly in the middle of the action, no excessive filler drama and no wasted time. Because let’s face it, a lot of these 500+ page romances don’t need to be that long. Even when I love some of them. I also did like Mia a lot. She’s put through a lot by her family, but she’s scrappy and self possessed, and she gives Laz as good as she gets. Or at least tries. Which is why she deserved better.

Enter Lazifer, or whatever his name is. When I think step daddy romance, what I think is mature, commanding, sxxy big D energy. What we get instead is a supremely entitled and worse, dense man child who I found hard to respect, let alone be attracted to. He talks like a teenager, behaves like a teenager, but still has the audacity to do what he eventually does. Sure he talks dirty, has tattoos and muscles and an actual big D, but that counts for nothing when you have the maturity of a 12 year old and the decision making skills of a toddler. My type is more the well spoken bossy daddy not whatever this child was. I couldn’t even appreciate the hotness of the book bcoz of what a turn off he was at times.

***Straight up spoilers from this point on***

I say all this coz the man thinks it’s a brilliant idea to swap out his step daughter’s birth control so he can get her preggers and solve all their problems, without telling her. While married to her mom! 🙃 Men. It felt like a flimsy excuse to get his br33ding kicks in. Yes the author warned us, and I understand br33ding schminks, but in this day and age, this was giving my step daddy is a trumpencer, or god forbid, one of the SC judges 🙃 And the worst part, she would probably have consented to his plan if he’d just asked and tried to convince her. She clearly was the adult in the relationship, and all his being sweet to her didn’t detract from this obscene breach of trust, and his general deadbeat himbo ness (not in a cute way). She even cared about what name he preferred to be called, and he couldn’t even have the decency to give her the basic respect of choice. He needed a lot of growing up to do before even thinking of having a child. Not gonna lie, I was gleeful with the punishment he was meted out by her crazy family, he deserved some pain. And his plan wasn’t as smart as he thought, the abject idiot. Her mom might be a raging villain, but what she says about him at the end isn’t wrong. He just gets away with it coz man. Oh well, I’m responsible for my choice to read this knowing what would happen, so I wouldn’t dream of telling someone not to read it, even if I wouldn’t recommend it myself.

Next to no plot with allllll the spice! Still an enjoyable story overall however. I loved the connection between Mia and Lazzaro and their story was just the right amount of taboo for me. And Lazzaro has an absolutely filthy mouth, which is always a plus.

This was not terrible - the writing was OK (apart from the use of the phrase, "I crave to", which just pulled me out of the story every time I read it) but overall this fell really flat for me. The mafia element was pretty much non-existent (if you're going to use that as the basis for your premise, I feel like it needs to be more a part of the story but honestly, I forgot that was even the reason for these characters being in this situation most of the time), and the characters were one-dimensional. I think overall the whole thing felt rushed and, as a result, not sufficiently fleshed out.
