I chose to read this because I wanted to broaden my comic horizons. Having never read any Superman, I thought the sixties would be a fun place to start. I've never really cared about Superman. I hear people say all the time "he's misjudged!" Or "no, he's not boring at all!""

It was boring. It was juvenile, it was sexist, it was filled with continuity errors (earth dad dies minutes after wife in one story, in another he dies several months after), almost zero sense of humor, and, worst of all was bland. It takes A LOT of effort to be bland when one of your stories includes a giant turtle man. The stories are colorful, that's for sure.

Here are some examples of some of the stories included in this collection:

-Jimmy Olsen turns into a giant turtle man (previously mentioned)
- Superman gets amnesia and turns into a hick and falls in love with a hick girl that doesn't know his identity and then he his crippled and then thrown into a raging river and then saved by a mermaid
- Bizarro Supermen on a different planet abuse a bizarro dog and it's supposed to be funny
- Lois Lane black mails superman into marrying her and they both turn into babies
- Superman agrees to help JFK get American kids whipped into shape. This includes putting them into a hot spring until their fat melts off

And much more! If that list sounds in any way interesting, trust me, it isn't. Reading this book was less fun than mopping the floors while getting a cavity fixed while watching 70s sitcom reruns while babysitting several 5 year olds.
