I have read a lot of children's books on death, this is the only one I can think of that ends so soon after the death. Instead, it focuses on relationships and the growth of preparatory grief.
It is perfectly packed and nuanced. Each character plays their roles, and there is little stereotyping.

I'm having real trouble deciding what to rate this one! In general it didn't really grab me though I did cry at the inevitable end. I'm also left wondering why an Australian author decided to set this book in the USA? 3.5 confused stars.

A beautiful trauma of a book. The characters are human, well developed and relatable. The framing, internal conceits and underlying metaphors are powerful and well used. A great and touching story about the inevitability of loss and grief.

Bit slow and tedious in the beginning, but sets up for a cracking second half. The ending made me cry on the train wooo. It amazes me how well my children describe the way their emotions to me and the narrator in this story Lenny has similar expression.

Lenny & Davey will worm their way into your heart, along with their family and friends. I love how real and awkward the characters are - they are dealing with difficult emotions, and they don't always make the best decisions. They are all so well drawn that they feel immediate and fully three-dimensional.

I think this is the first book to make me cry since [b:A Man Called Ove|18774964|A Man Called Ove|Fredrik Backman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1405259930s/18774964.jpg|21619954].

I loved it, and I'll be recommending it to everyone.

Absolutely loved this book. Crying by the end. Such a great book of a young girl making sense of her world.

❤️I haven’t read a book that ended in tears for a very long time! Lenny’s Book of Everything is a beautifully written, heart felt story. Loved it from beginning til end ❤️
