Fun adventurous story that will be great for readers who love Erin Hunter. The book highlights the many strengths of friendship and sticking with your friends through thick and thin. There are some deaths in the book, so more sensitive readers might be upset by that.

Ends in a cliffhanger, which is pretty annoying, but I suppose I'd have known that if I read the author's notes in advance.
All in all, it's not a bad story, but it's not super captivating either. I found myself checking how many pages were left a little too frequently. I don't know if a child would find it more entertaining than I did, but I plan on reading the second book as well just to see where it ends. It probably won't be one of the book series I keep, though.

A fun and imaginative read full of interesting conflict, colorful characters, neat concepts and good world-building. I genuinely enjoyed this first leg of Dilah's journey and can't wait to read the future installments. I do hope they translate future installments into English, but if not I can always fall back on the German series which has been entirely translated.

Obviously written for a middle grade audience, but still a creative and bittersweet story. Reading the author’s note at the end made me love it even more.
