Chilling.

Make the blood run cold to read of the nonchalance of the Nazi SS officer who was a major figure in the murder of millions. Constantly complaining that he was polite and sensitive to the Jews he had dealings with, and never having killed a single one, he should not have any responsibility for the mass. Under of Jews.

Knowing full well that loading them onto trains meant almost certain death, he protests that he was only involved in logistics, following orders and such. Hard to swallow how a human being can rationalize even mass murder. No mass murder of hundreds, or even thousands, mass murder of millions - millions! And had he been given more time and rolling stock, there would not be a Jew alive in Europe.

Yet he clings to hollow protests of oath keeping. Clearly National Socialism was the religion that filled the void left when he abandoned his childhood Christianity. He even refers to 'National Socialist religion and theism' at one point.

A real beacon of warning of the immense danger of religion belief abandoned and replaced by the religious forms and loyalty without the Christian content (in this case). The state became god and anything the state wanted was de facto moral. God, demands absolute loyalty and allegiance. The state in this case embodied by the Führer. Truly idolatry at its worst.

Evil in a polite package wrapped in a well tailored uniform and buckled with self righteous honor.

Horrific.
