An exciting new world from a long-time favorite author of mine! This story follows 17-year-old Megan whose penchant for anger often leaves her in unforeseen circumstances. Megan has always had trouble controlling her anger, but until recently, she never understood the fury welling inside of her or the true source of her seeming unexplainable rage. When Megan’s mother decides to abandon her in a new town one day, Megan is forced to face a reality she never knew existed, and to come to terms with who she is and her predetermined purpose in the world.

Megan is a spunky, fearsome woman with a take-no-sh*t attitude and a proclivity for dealing ‘justice’ on those around her. I loved getting to follow her first steps into the realm of the supernatural and to unravel the mysteries of the town, along with the identity of a murderer seemingly intent on framing Megan, alongside of her. While I wasn’t as surprised with the answers we found as some people in Uttira were, I had a great time delving into the mysteries and putting the pieces together.

This story for me had a bit of a “Shadow Falls” feel for me in the beginning, with Megan questioning whether she belonged at the Academy and in the supernatural world. But the nature of the gods, and the various purposes set in place for the vast number of supernatural species in Uttira, made this feel like more of an original work and helped to distinguish Melissa’s newest work from other Supe novels I’ve read. I would highly recommend this novel and cannot wait to tackle book 2!

I was so totally in the mood for an easy to read YA with some paranormal love and this book was exactly the right book at exactly the right moment. I almost ordered the next two books in this trilogy already, but I have to wait another week to do so. Until then I hopefully have some other books to distract me, because the urge to read on is strong.

This book is exactly what it sounds to be and seems to be and pretends to be. It's a YA, with loads of teenage angst, some teenage romance, a possible love triangle (I happen to love those), a girl grown up in the human world who has always been different and stood out who's thrown into the supernatural world where she has a lot to learn and a little bit of excitement, action and mystery.

I already knew that Haag had a lovely writing style and she really displays it in this book. Every sentence flows, dialogues sound quite natural and I had absolutely no trouble reading and devouring this book quickly.

That was also because of the main character, Meghan, who's just easy to like and easy to identify with. She's incredibly human, even though she's of course not, and she's a typical teenager. The way she reacts to her new world, to her new friends and her new school feels very natural and realistic and although she's a little more impulsive than I am, she's constantly impulsive and slightly reckless, which makes it a character trait instead of stupidness.

The biggest part of the plot in this book consisted of world building. There was also a little mystery in there to spice things up, but even without it the story was already quite amusing and entertaining and maybe most of all slightly addictive. I can't wait to order the next book and to devour it the same way I did this one.

I forgot I read these until I logged back onto my kindle today!!

I’ve not rated a book 2⭐️ before but I enjoyed them. It introduced me to like a tiny bit of smut and it got my mind off of some bad things that were happening in my life at the time. However I wouldn’t buy the books and I got the first book in the series for free

I enjoyed this book and all of the characters, though to be honest I can't remember too much about their names. The only thing I did find a little frustrating was how Megan (was that her name?) just keep falling over various boys. Sure, it's fine to have a crush. But there was just so much focus on her romantic relationships (or lack-thereof) that it could have easily been some sort of teen romance novel.

I did appreciate the development of Megan's power, though. How it had been there all along, but all she really needed to do was understand it. Her character was well thought out and portrayed. I loved has sassy she was, and how she never held back. There are often times when I'm reading novels and I just think 'Oh my god, I would punch that person right in the face if they did that to me'. Great thing about Megan is she does just that!

I do also like all of the different types of creatures that there were, though sometimes it did feel kind of forced with them all being in the same place. It sort of felt like a bunch of different mythical stories had all be smooshed into one American high school. Not saying that's a bad thing, it just felt a little strange.

I'm intrigued to see where the series is going, so I may pick up the rest at some point.

OMG!! New series on the blog peeps!!

OMG!! New Series that I will just stalk!

I loved Ms Haag Judgement of the 6 (if you haven’t read it - do it now) but this! This just speaks to me. It’s amazingly well written with a story that simply swallows you whole with no intention of letting you go. The world she created has so much going on that it’s simply wow. And characters? Amazing! Thanks to them you can feel everything what they feel. That’s how good the writing is. You will be giggling, snorting, cursing and you will be upset. There is no doubt.

But go and read it.

Now.

Thank me later.

This was good, but not great. I didn't really connect with any of the characters. Everything was very surface level. The plot was very predictable.

Fury Frayed is a quick, entertaining, and a really fun read! I highly recommend it if you love urban fantasy, mythological influence, and a dose of fun YA tropes.

I loved this book. Megan doesn't understand her constant anger and need to fight everyone and the her mom ditches her in some strange town. I loved Elaina, she was sweet and exactly the friend Meghan needs. Watching Megan learn about supernatural beings and that she is one too was interesting. I can't wait for book 2.
