A pen pal story - but by bottle, across the wafer! I enjoyed Alice & Francois' correspondence, but particularly loved the "travel" pages, with many small images in each spread of the bottle traversing between the two.

Yes, I liked the story and the drawings but I'm not sure why it had to be set in Paris and have some French. This would be lost to the age group for this book. A bonus for the adult readers maybe?

I don't want to be dramatic but I would die for Alice and François. And probably Gus Gordon because these illustrations are the best.

This author knows how to write for her audience! All the letters between Francois and Alice were very much like kids actually wrote them.

Absolute perfection. Even my 7yo was moved by the sweetness of this story.

Illustrations remind me of Oliver Jeffers’ work.

This is a wonderful, charming, gentle book that deals with life, love and loss and the importance of friends. I have many questions about the characters and some of the stylistic choices - but the overall tone and message means they don't matter. A lovely book.
