This is Yumi Heo's rendition of traditional Korean story that teaches the importance of the tools needed to sew clothing. I love the illustrators depiction of fabrics and their patterns, but over all the illustrations were too complicated for me to enjoy the book fully.
The illustrations are incredibly clever - the way the artist turned scissors or a needle into a person in the artwork (you'd have to see it), but I often had to study a page for a while for the elements to become clear.
The story is well-narrated, and the illustrations accompany it well.

A great book for teaching humility. I was looking for a book that helped in explaining abstract concepts like humility, cockiness/boasting, pride, and reflection. This book had all of the above. The personification of the sewing tools adds an extra layer of talking about teamwork and working together. You can't make a garment without each one of the parts. Similarly, each person in the class has something amazing to contribute. This book is overall great for setting norms in the classroom and building culture. My students really loved it.

Lovely "folk-tale" quality to this story with interesting personification, and nice multicultural connections in the illustrations.

I love folktales, and this is a nice one from Korea. I liked the emphasis on real teamwork, and the handiwork aspect is a nice bonus.
