took some getting used to the writing style as all i’ve been reading for the past few months is greek and roman literature for ap lang, but this book is still holds up in my third(?) reread. it’s like wrapping your self in a blanket in the middle of the winter. i know i can always reread this book and enjoy it :)

review for school:
Radio Silence by Alice Oseman is not your typical young adult “romance” novel. Frances Janvier is a high school student trapped in academia who creates art for her favorite podcast in her free time. Aled Last just happens to be the creator. When their paths cross, you would think that they would start dating, you would think, right? Radio Silence is incredibly relatable to its intended audience with diverse and generally well developed characters, despite not all of them being likeable. This book is absolutely adorable, while still containing important discussions about identity, relationships, and mental illness. It’s one of those books that you can read multiple times and not get tired of it; I definitely recommend giving it a shot. (rec. By Kaitlyn Niro)

I don’t think I can put into words how much I love this book. Going into it, I knew it was going to be a new favourite because I instantly connected with Frances. But every new character that was introduced stole my heart away.

The whole underlying message of university being something you “have to do in order to be successful” is something I feel weighing really heavily on my shoulders. So this really resonated with me.

Alice Oseman, you are a fucking artist. This is my new favourite book.

“I wonder - if nobody is listening to my voice, am I making any sound at all?”

“‘I’m platonically in love with you.’
‘That was literally the boy-girl version of ‘no homo’, but I appreciate the sentiment.’”

“I kept peeling off layers of my personality, but I seemed to be going in circles. Every time I thought I’d worked out what I really enjoyed, I started to second-guess myself. Maybe I just didn’t enjoy anything anymore.”

it was so sad. like bone-chillingly sad, which i was not expecting. that's not necessarily a bad thing, but like, it was just really sad. i love aled and frances and i relate to them on another level. i just really appreciated the critique of the education system, and the platonic boy-girl friendship, and the pop culture references. i just really love this book.
