An absolutely gripping historical novel about the life of Brian Boru, the first king to unite Ireland in the 10th Century. Intrigue, battles, politics, dreams, determination, Christians, pagans, druids, Vikings, romance… this book has it all! Great on audio… the kind of book that makes you lose track of time.

I have never before read a book that made me feel as if I lived a full and rich life alongside the main character. Lion of Ireland is tremendous.
Fada beo Éire!

Brilliant, the characters leap from the pages and instill themselves in your soul with all the passion and power of the Irish people. This is history and myth, truth and fiction, brought together for entertainment and to tell a message. The story of Brian Boru is one of anyone desiring with a fervency of the spirit to build a place of joy and prosperity, knowing at times that to do so begins with pain and battle. This is a story of humanity and in it is found a great deal to love and hold.

This book was a bit dry for me. It was wonderfully done and a great story, but I was ready for it to be done by the time I got to the end.

Fascinating account of Brian Borou, historically speaking the first king of Ireland who united the country, and divided it into North and South.

It is quite dull at times because it is textbook historical but for the most part is well paced and well written to keeping your interest. It makes me want to research more on the characters we're introduced to because they're so believable.

He took her into his arms again, using all his strength to be gentle, and let his lips touch hers so lightly he could hardly feel it.

The formal words of courtesy deserted him--they were not needed anyway, not between him and this woman.

He took the strong, capable hand that was not dwarfed in his, and she sprang lightly to her feet, standing proudly before him, her eyes even with his lips. Taller than a man, tall as a spear, and beautiful. “You were here all the time,” he said to her...
