I really enjoyed seeing the author work through, you know, the kind of weight that's been placed on women and mothers and daughters simply for those titles being assigned identities that may or may not predict the way their lives work out. I also love to see that we're not so different from the Greeks: we're still using mythology to investigate and better carry our tragedies. That's beautiful.

Haunting and beautiful.

This is really different because the poems follow a narrative about Persephone and her mother Demeter. I love mythology and this reminded me of the feeling of reading the epic poetry Odyssey, but at the same time, experiencing certain modern thinking underneath.
