I enjoyed this sequel to Mythos much more than its predecessor, probably because it tells a much more coherent narrative (or tries to, at least). Mythos was sometimes random and allover the place and hard to follow. This book, however, focuses on a number of Greek heroes and tells their stories in a more or less coherent manner (but still, these myths are very convoluted and intertwined).

I learned A LOT from reading this book. Most of my knowledge of Greek mythology was superficial, and this really helped me to get a deeper picture of these myths, and especially of how they still shape our society, and very much also our language.

Stephan Fry is a phenomenal story teller! His retellings of the Greek myths and how they influenced (or were just straight up taken and had names changed) other religions, primarily Christianity is truly fascinating. I enjoy his dramatizations of how conversations between heroes and gods occurred and I really loved how he expressed the absolute lack of logic his subject(s) had. This book expands on the first of the trilogy, Mythos. Heracles, Jason, Oedipus and more take center stage with Stephan Fry narrating his own book.

Another absolute masterpiece following the first book of the series. I would dare say that this is a perfect sequel! Stephen Fry proves once again that he is master at storytelling and you can feel the passion he has for this subject in every written line. It's a real joy to read and I can recommend it to anyone, no matter if you have prior knowledge of greek mythology or not.
