I absolutely adore this historical romance! It was so much fun to read and it brought me so much joy! I love Simon and Annabelle together! My new favourite historical romance!!!

on one hand, i really liked this book and will definitely continue with the series, on the other hand, a great part of this book was really uncomfortable (??) for me. i dont really know what caused it, perhaps it was the power dynamic? i dont really know how to describe it, but i was just kinda stressed and sad for annabelle. maybe im just in a weird state of mind, cause i like penelope douglases book, and she has an abundance of couples with unhealthy power dynamics. i did end up loving the ending:))

A quick, sweet read. I liked especially the ending. Kleypas managed it to do it without a breakup, how refreshing!

I don't know how to rate this book. I liked it, I guess? Spicy. Likeable cast of female characters, if a bit flat. However, the last 20 pages (barring the epilogue) was by far the most interesting part of the book, which really highlighted how...meh...the rest of it was. Maybe this brand of historical romance is not for me.

Simon Hunt is an all-time classic hero and I will die on that hill.

Let me be clear, I read the original version (old paperback off ThriftBooks) and it was the best decision of my life. I went chapter for chapter with the kindle version for highlighting purposes until the kindle version went completely rogue. It is NOT just the prologue that was cut.

Anyway. Original version FTW! 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

“My God, I can’t stand this! I can’t let you go out every day, fearing every minute that something might happen to you, knowing that every ounce of sanity I’ve got left is hinged on your well-being. I can’t feel this way . . . it’s too strong . . . oh, hell. I’ll turn into a raving lunatic. I’ll never be of use to anyone again. If I could just reduce it somehow . . . love you only half this much . . . I might be able to live with it.”
