Lexi is working part time as a waitress to pay for her classes, after her life fell apart. When her “successful” old friends from high school come into the restaurant, Lexi sits down and pretends to be on a date with one of her customers.

This snowballs and through a series of accidents and miscommunication, people think Lexi and Will are engaged. Backed into a corner, they go along with it.

It’s dual POV, fake engagement, and the cover art is so pretty. It’s cute and fun. I laughed a lot!

In terms of spice level, it’s technically open door but the scenes are vague.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my advanced digital copy!

Lexi is down on her pick and takes a part time job as a waitress but is really really bad at it. Will is a CFO for the family business and one of Seattle's most eligible bachelors. After a miscommunication Lexi and Will end up fake engaged and have to somehow prove it.

This meet cute story was original and hilarious. Lexi was my favorite protagonist in a while. Sophie Sullivan is a phenomenal writer and I loved this book!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance reader copy of Can't Help Falling in Love.

Lexi, while trying to avoid former high school friends who show up at the restaurant where she works, takes help from another customer, Will, who helps her make a quick exit.  Lexi does not find out until later that Will is a Grand, a known name and family in Seattle. Their meet cute leads to misunderstandings and a fake engagement, all while Lexi and Will explore their very real feelings.

I thought this was a fresh take on fake dating/fake engagement by the fact that Lexi and Will have a spark from the beginning. So while they're families believe they're engaged, they're dating each other while keeping up the misunderstanding. I found the approach moved quicker than the friends or enemies to lovers progression that you usually see with the fake dating trope.

I would say this is the book I've enjoyed most from Sophie Sullivan!

This was an all around adorable read. The characters are lovable and I liked fake engagement vibes. It was a bit slow for me but kept me entertained.

Oh my goodness, this book is highly recommended by myself for fans of contemporary romance! “Can't Help Falling in Love" by Sophie Sullivan is a delightful rom-com that sweeps readers off their feet with its charming blend of humour, heart, and unexpected love. At least it did with this reader!

Meet Lexi Danby. She’s a former college track star turned struggling waitress, seeking some no-strings fun. Meet Noah McAllister. He’s the heir to a major Seattle company and is navigating the complexities of his own love life. When circumstances throw them together in a high-profile fake engagement, sparks fly, and their hearts become entangled in a delightful dance of attraction and vulnerability.

Sullivan's writing is, as always, as warm and comforting as a chai latte on a crisp fall day. The banter is witty, the chemistry palpable, and the journey is utterly endearing. The Seattle backdrop adds an extra layer of charm, making the city feel like a character in its own right. Seattle’s Pike Place Market is also where Starbucks was born!

What sets this rom-com apart is its balance of humour and emotional depth. While the fake engagement trope provides plenty of laughs, Sullivan also delves into themes of grief, family, and personal growth. Lexi and Noah's vulnerabilities make them relatable, and readers will root for their happily-ever-after.

"Can't Help Falling in Love" is a heartwarming and fun read, perfect for cozying up with a cup of tea and a pair of sherpa socks. Sullivan has crafted a delightful escape into love, laughter, and the magic of unexpected connections.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

“Can’t Help Falling in Love” is a fake dating, he falls first romcom set in the fall in Seattle. Lexi is a struggling waitress that was once a record setting track star but after her dad died, she quit to take care of her mom and deal with the fall out. Lexi meets Will, Seattle‘s most eligible bachelor and heir to a large company while totally failing at her waitressing job. Their first date leads to a misunderstanding that they are engaged, so to keeps Will’s mom from bothering him and save face in front of Lexi’s former friends, they decide to fake the engagement while they actually start dating and getting to know each other. Lexi soon needs to decide if she will stay still or take a leap of faith and actually let Will in.

“Can’t Help Falling in Love” was such a fun and emotional read. Sophie Sullivan does a great job describing the scenes to really make you feel like you are there. The book is set in the fall and you really feel all the apple picking and leaf changing vibes.

There is a great cast of characters that surrounds Lexi and Will. They really add depth to the story without taking away from the main characters. The book deals with depression and grief in the form of Lexi’s mom and it’s done in a sensitive loving way that adds a lot of emotion to the book.

Lexi and Will’s love story is definitely quick but believable. The characters really hit it off and you can tell from the dual POV that they really hold a lot of the same morals, so the foundation is there. Will did such a good job helping Lexi with her confidence and just making sure she wasn’t putting herself down and that she is proud of her accomplishments.

This book is a cozy heart warming read that is going to be perfect to pick up and enjoy.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this digital advance readers copy.
