Not a big fan of folklore, in general, but I enjoyed reading his personal experiences. He's pretty funny and a very good writer. I hope to see more from him the future, sans ancient stories.

Inspiring and thought-provoking memoir of a storyteller who loses his voice.

The premise is very close to home. I like the original style of the book intersecting folk tales with his story. My one problem that I could not get past is that the author's Yoda is actually a drink fool, and I could not see his advice as worthwhile or his insights. However, it's not my story...

Brilliant! A storyteller tells his personal story of a journey and the books is interspersed with short stories. I found this an inspiring memoir, and this not usually a genre I have had much luck with. It did come recommended to me by another professional storyteller so I guess it was never going to be that bad!

I loved this short, profound book! I'm adding it to my list of books everyone should read! I could easily write a book about all the wonderful things I've gleaned from this read, but that would spoil the journey for all of you, so go read it yourself. :-)

Enjoyed the stories from all around the world and how the author tied them to events of his own life. Ultimately, a story of learning how to deal with the curve balls life throws you.

Superb book... This is perfect for someone looking for how to deal with the losses this life puts us through... The author has given his honest reaction and advice on how to deal with the tragedies faced and how to overcome some of it through certain extent. The book would be loved by those who like to read folktales, the kind of stories that teach many things about life in an interesting way. Although the premise is based around a storyteller, the themes in the book are mature in nature. It is a good swift read. A must read for everyone. Smart. Witty. Tragic. Funny. Inspiring.

I got this book at our book club Christmas party and I'm so glad because I never would have heard of it otherwise. I loved that it is a true story, I liked the reminder that was the moral of the story, and I enjoyed learning more about the profession of storytelling. My favorite part of the book was that in between each chapter the author included a famous story from various countries that where interesting to read and learn from. I'd recommend this book to anyone!
