This is a lot. I mean the first question is "Where are the humans?" and it just goes right in the bummer zone from there. I can't remember how I parented the discussion with my kid on nuclear winter... However, the artwork and characters and story are all great. Also there is hope at the end.

I really didn’t like this. And I’m in the minority! Most people seem to absolutely love this? What did I miss?
The art is the only good thing about this.
There. Was. So. Much. Death. 💀
How is this classified as a Middle Grade graphic novel?
I just wanted to have a fun little mouse adventure in a post apocalyptic world. I did not get that and maybe that’s on me.

When I began reading this graphic novel, I wasn't really a big fan of it. It seemed like a cliche middle grade story, but as I kept reading it, it seemed to have grown on me. I wouldn't recommend to anyone right away, but this was an enjoyable read.
Graphic: Animal death and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: War and Grief

I watched OSP’s trope talk ‘Small Mammal In a Big World’ and Red briefly discussed Scurry so I decided to buy it for myself.
It was pretty good, kind of reminded me of Erin Hunter’s ‘Survivors’ series (that I still need to finish😅) except it’s about dogs after an apocalypse (plus they don’t know human words for things lol). Also getting it for the art alone is so worth it. Mac Smith’s artwork is gorgeous!!

One of the most gorgeous graphic novels I have ever read. I personally enjoyed the story, but for a book marketed as middle grade I would say its a bit intense. Still a really fun read!
