Very much loved this. If anything, it could have been a much longer book, but it's also just nice for fantasy book to be standalone

The Witch's Heart, Gornichec's previous novel, was a 5-star read. I had high expectations picking this up.

I enjoyed this historical Norweigan Fantasy. It started with blood bonds created by children and the book played this out in their adulthood. Loyalty was tested through Viking raids, family issues, falling in love, & magic.

This was enjoyable, but at times it dragged. That being said if the cover summary sounds good to you- I would recommend picking this one up.

I loved this book! Gornichec's writing style is entrancing and I never want to put down the book. The description of magic and the way that the characters were written made me want to live in the world.
