YA is still not my first choice when it comes to any romance pairing but this MM definitely continues to have its charm.
Starting where the first book left off, Thaddeus and company are on an important quest to find his wayward cursed mother but along the way, his dad is mortally wounded. When faced with the decision to continue or to diverge and try to find the mystical Well of Tears that has the power to heal anything, Thaddeus chooses to try to save the parent that needs him most. Thus he, his new boyfriend Teofil the gnome, and Teofil’s two siblings set off into the Lost Forest to find the elusive legend.
What this excels at and what makes this so obviously YA is the growing up that Thaddeus must do. He has to make tough decisions, confront obstacles that are scary, and to mature or at least start to come into his own regarding the magical abilities he didn’t even know he had just the other day. For me, the standout star here is still the endearing wears-his-heart-on-his-sleeve Teofil, as he continues to be the bestest boyfriend ever. Well at least for the under 18 age set. Apparently, I have a thing for gnomes. Who knew!? Lol. So yes, this is tame - so very tame - but still pulling at the nostalgic heartstrings as we witness the first blooms of sweet sweet love.
Overall, I obviously enjoyed this and look forward to seeing how Thaddeus conquers his evil nemesis and gains back his long lost family! Having Teofil support him along the way is definitely going to be the icing on the cake!

Just as good, if not better than book 1, The Well of Tears is an action packed adventure.
Starting immediately from the end of book 1, I loved that we didn't miss any part of Thaddeus' journey to find his mother. Though there was a lot of adventure – death defying moments, danger and so many more secrets revealed – I never felt as though the book dragged or gave away too much. Everything was done with the perfect amount of moderation, leaving the reader to figure out things on their own, before the big reveal.
Yes, that last sentence implies that I figured out the two biggest secrets that were mentioned in this story – one revealed before the end, the other only hinted at. However, that wouldn't have been possible without the trail of clever little clues the author sprinkled into innocuous conversations and innocent proclamations.
Once again, Thaddeus and Teofil made excellent main characters. Though we only read the story in Thaddeus' POV, I always felt connected to Teofil through him and the small, intimate chemistry they shared with each other.
Similarly, I grew to question everything out of Fetter's mouth and, eventually, feel very sorry for him (not telling why!) and really liked the spark in Astrid. Diplomatic and dreamy, Astrid is very much like their mother, Miriam, while Fetter is much more blunt and has no tact. We also get a much closer view of Thaddeus' dad, Nathan, in this book, though it's all second-hand again. I'm with Thaddeus, that there are more secrets to reveal, but I just know it's going to be an exciting ride discovering them.

Right from page one, with that fabulous intro, I was hooked on the continued journey of Thaddeus and the gang, searching through the Lost Forest for his mother. I can't wait to continue the journey in the next book.

The next instalment of Thaddeus and Teofil was just as adventurous and sweet.
We are sent deep into the other world as our intrepid team look to save Thaddeus’ family.
The sweet hesitance of growing affection between our young characters is tempered by mishaps and worry.
Mr. Thomas’s way with words is amazing and keeps you hooked on the both the quest as well as the developing relationships, not just between Thaddeus and Teofil but members of their family.
Good Job! And I am so ready for the next instalment.
