I was hoping the book would shed light on topics using data, science, statistics, research papers, etc. but no - this book is essentially reading a subreddit echo chamber of parents who are equally misinformed and fearful.

Also, don’t claim you’re concerned about the environment while you simultaneously eat meat, drink dairy, and buy fast fashion.

"Spit That Out!" is an intelligent, reassuring manual that’s won a permanent place on my bookshelf. From cleaning & breastfeeding to mass media exposure & clothes shopping, this book has a chapter about each and every common concern for a parent hoping to simply raise a happy, healthy child. In the grand scheme of things, there seem to be so few things a parent can do to prevent exposure to questionable chemicals, foods, products, and negative influences. Instead of just "rolling the dice", this book makes me feel empowered and, more importantly, understood as a strange bundle of eco-anxiety.

With straightforward answers from true eco-professionals & honest experiences from other moms, "Spit That Out!" is a new breed of parenting handbook, reading more like a conversation with your girlfriends instead of just words on a page. At the end of the day, you have to make your own decisions based on what is best for you and your child – "Spit That Out!" makes those decisions easier to make with sincere confidence.
