Short story collections are always a mixed bag, but this one's introduced me to a few authors that I want to follow up on as well as the ones that I'll let slide...

A new tome in my favorite shared universe, ever! Woo! Bordertown is the same but the rest of the world sure isn't. The thirteen days that passed in town were really thirteen years to the rest of the world. But now the border is open again, and the people that considered themselves on the cutting edge of everything are forced to deal with a world that has moved on without them. But if there's anything they can do, it's adapt. Love the new life that was breathed into the series.

I really liked this. Would have gone to 3.5 stars if I could, and the only reason I didn't go 4 was the unevenness of the collection, as is often the case. I'm not familiar with the original Borderlands series, but that didn't matter -- the concept is easy to grasp. I like linked short stories, and the crossover of characters and situations in these was just enough to keep cohesion without the feeling that there was too much sameness. Smart urban fantasy.

Somehow, I missed the earlier Bordertown anthologies. The only good thing about that, I think, is that I now have some fantastic reading to look forward to. (Pun not intended, but I'm leaving it.)
