Excellent characterizations and pacing; you can tell that Beatty loves Batgirl. Plenty of backup cast in the form of heroes and villains alike never eclipse Barbara herself, who is the powerful, inventive, driving core of this story about her need to be herself and not other people's visions or expectations of her. An acceptably clever amount of foreshadowing is present, and is not heavy-handed. Three villains with whom I'm only passingly familiar - Firefly, Killer Moth and Blockbuster - are well used. Art is in the Sale / Aja / Pulido school of sparseness, which works well here and seems to have become the default for origin stories. All in all, I enjoyed this very much and would read the follow up.
