I read through these, in particular, to see if and how he connects the Rosary to St. Dominic. He tells the traditional story of the Rosary in the first letter and then at least mentions in almost all the rest of them. Another theme that shows up often is the assistance this prayer brings to civic life. He says the greatest problems nowadays are the rejection of simplicity, unwillingness to suffer and the forgetting of our destination in heaven. To each of these corresponds one of the three sets of mysteries. All of these are written that we might “imitate what they (the Mysteries) contain and obtain what they promise.”
