Another solid and entertaining fun mystery from Karen M. McManus. I enjoyed the characters as well as the small own island setting. I did find it difficult to keep the Story children straight, since they were mostly talked about rather than interacted with or an active part of the story. I was able to guess a large part of the reveal at the end after only the first or second Allison flashback, so pretty early on the in the story, but there was still an element that I didn't figure out early, so that was good.

this is my second book from this author and i want to read all her library now lol. she writes really good mystery/thriller books (as a non thriller fan)
the whole milard was actually dead plot twist was so surprising and i really liked the way they found out. the jonah and archer reveals were both really good as well.
i really liked it and it was a fun read. 3.5 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've been in a reading slump and this story pulled me out of it.
I enjoyed the setting, the characters, the idea of the plot, the pacing... overall was a good time and a good book to introduce me to the genre of mystery.
I liked the writing style and how we saw glimpses of the past. Some of the twists and turns the story took were fun and some surprised me... however the main thing that let the book down was the grand reveal/ending. I found it was missing elements and therefore was a bit underwhelming.

✨ The Title/Cover Draw:
Another book with a lot of hype recently. Never read anything from this author before so trying this was a must!

This was forgettable. The ending was a let down. I think Karen McManus is just not for me.

just when you think you’ve figured it out, there’s forty more pieces of the puzzle missing. a good book with a nice ‘tied together’ sort of ending!
