I am a Londoner interested in food and cities so this book was made for me, but I would recommend it to anyone interested in great writing. Not every style was for me but there was loads I enjoyed and some, like Yemisi Aribsala's account of food smuggling through airports, were just superb. The book looks especially at the areas outside central London ignored by most food and travel writing. And here is the irony - I live in one of the many 'fake villages' (thank you JG Ballard) whose restaurants do sometimes appear in the national media. I recognised the London it describes but much of it was new to me.
