It's an excellent account of a NHS experience on "the front line" as it was referred to - but the humanity and total failures of the government to step up and act responsibly and consistently is laced through Rachel's word. It makes for an infuriating listen at times, and reminds you of so much that you may have forgotten during your own survival state at the time. It's essential to remember how badly the UK was failed by Johnston and Hancock et al. A striking and important book of record for all those who worked in the NHS or lost their loved ones in the pandemic, their stories here preserved with all the potent honesty that they deserve.
