Great story, solid 2nd book in this series. I couldn’t put it down.

Larue just can’t catch a break. She and Callahan try to pick up where they left off by going out on a date. When Callahan comes to pick her up Larue meets his Grandfather’s ghost, Seth. Then she gets an urgent phone call and they run off to assist her friends with a ghost busting gone bad. So, Larue has her next set of ghouls and what a fun bunch they are, Mae West and the James-Dean-wanna-be.

Even though Larue’s tough exterior is in place and she tries so hard to keep her attitude positive, the best intentions can go astray when someone is out to steal your life. Larue loses her base of human friends and she almost waits too long to ask for assistance from new acquaintances.

Larue needs to trust her instincts and allow Callahan to help her. He clearly is not fazed by whatever she throws at him. I think they are a great couple.

I really like this series. I love the play between the ghosts and Larue when she is with humans and even without other humans around. She is such a smart, honest, friendly character. Magnolia sounds like a wonderful little town, if slightly filled with paranormal activity. I am recommending it to my friends.

This was a lot of fun reading. I started reading this book before I went to bed. It was hard for me to stop reading, but I had to get some sleep. I can't wait for book 3 so I can read more about what ghost friends Larue finds next and see her relationship with Callahan grow.

Nothing says romance like taking your date with you to exorcise a house.

Larue is a bookstore owner who just happens to see and talk with ghosts. She has recently started helping out a ghost busting group to help the ghosts to the other side. Larue is called to a haunting while on a date with coffee shop owner, Callahan. Along the way, Callahan's deceased grandfather, Seth becomes a back seat passenger. At the house, Larue finds Mae West( yes, the real Mae West) and a James Dean wanna be. Now Larue has three ghosts attached to her. Damage to her bookstore brings up bad memories of bad witch, Brianna who was dealt with in the previous book. Brianna's cousin, Cooper has now arrived to run her the clothing store.

Whew! I didn't read the first book but soon picked up on the dynamics of the characters. The local coven leader takes ill and wants Larue to take her place. Callahan and best friend, Mindy are bespelled. Larue takes a bit to pick up on this.

I enjoy other books by this author and know that I should go back and read the first one which I understand has the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. I'm not sure I like the addition of well recognized people as ghosts that attach to Larue. I felt that Mae West was written almost as a caricature. It's almost like when people try to convince you that they are descended from royalty. Sometimes Larue was so dense that I wanted to smack her. This was a quick enjoyable read even with those drawbacks.

I hate to read out of order and think I will go back to read book one and then reread this one to grasp the continuity of the characters.

Oh how I wanted to like this more than I did! I was initially drawn in from the beginning. It got off to a good start with an interesting way to be introduced to the characters if you hadn't read the first book. I had not, and although the book constantly refers to things that happened in the first book, that was not really what troubled me. (But yes, there are other authors who are much more successful at crafting a book that is not so dependent on the first. This is not a "jump in any time" series.)

There was only so much of how HOT Callahan is that a reader can take! Does he have any other redeeming qualities? Maybe he is more developed in the first book, but I found him flat and one-dimensional. I found it SO tiresome that his hotness is all Larue can get back to. The mystery, too, just takes too long to get rolling. I did not find Larue to be a particular strong character either. I thought she would be the cool ghost-hunter, maybe with a bit of sass there, but I found her sadly timid. I couldn't stand the whole digging herself in deep with her lies to Callahan either. The book is rife with so much self-doubt, rhetorical questions, and "self-speak" that does nothing to get the story moving forward.

The sidekick ghosts hangers-on are cute and entertaining. But there is way more telling than showing in this for me. Meh.

This book picks up exactly where we left off in book one. I must say while I enjoyed this book it didn't quite hit that 5 star mark with me. In part because of the main character Larue. While she is a marvelous character she is just so weak to me. She has so much self doubt and uncertainty in everything she thinks or does, and it becomes a little bit annoying. I kept wanting to reach in and smack some sense into her and yell at her to put her big girl undies on!

Once again we have a bit of a mystery, WHO is the person behind the "evil". And you will know who it is long before Larue does. But that doesn't detract from the story at all.

This time we have different ghosts who are following Larue around, and the dialogue at times just makes you laugh so hard your sides will split. I know I got yelled at for waking my sleeping bear of a husband once because I laughed and he said "shut it I'm sleeping". Which in English translates to "Christina please turn off your kindle and get some sleep I need to get up at 5." He's a bit of a bear and a reading party pooper.

I felt so bad for Larue, she just doesn't seem to be able to move along in her life. I can't wait to see what happens next in her life.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the paranormal or just a good giggle. Seriously grab these books, they are the bomb!
