I liked this book much better than the last one. The plot was straight forward and still interesting. there were not too many characters (sometimes Rankin puts too many people in the books and does not have any reason for them to be there). I like the historical plot line as well the modern one.

One of the better books in the series so far. While I still don't really like Rebus he is a pretty fascinating character.

Good, solid Rebus novel, with Rebus ruining his life. Seems to be a pattern with detectives...
